Our Mission

The mission and objectives of the Department of Geography is to stimulate and promote excellence in geographic scholarship through:

• commitment to undergraduate students in providing a learning environment that fosters knowledge, skills and experiences that prepare them for life in an ever-changing world, and engages, inspires and challenges them to become informed citizens;
• commitment to provide a research-based, mentorship model of graduate education which may guide the students in their future endeavors;
• service to the community by disseminating geographic knowledge and by providing geographic insights on important societal issues;
• commitment to provide a rigorous, multidisciplinary education for our students, with a focus on skills and applied experience that will enable them to contribute successfully to the local and global community.

Goals and Objectives

·       Provide our students with a combination of technical skills, hands-on experience, and theory that enables them to successfully pursue employment or further their education.

·       Provide our students with an insight of the multidisciplinary nature of geography.

·       Provide our students an appreciation and love for the discipline and make them understand how geography can help in solving a variety of societal problems with its spatial and temporal outlook.

·       Promote an appreciation for and understanding of diversity within the local and global community.
