Grievance Redressal Cell (G.R.C.)
Purview:
Any serious complaint against student or non-teaching staff of the college will come under the purview of the Grievance Redressal Cell (G.R.C.). The complaint is to be made in writing. The complaint is to be made in writing. Anonymous complaints will not be entertained. Complaints relating to: absence/inadequacy of support facilities, service and cleaning with each other would come under the purview of the cell.
Precedence:
The M.U.C. Women’s College is having its own Grievance Redressal system in a formal manner, i.e. in the form of a committee constituted and supervised by Head of the Institution (Principal/Teacher-in-Charge).
Inception:
- The M.U.C. Women’s College is having its own Grievance Redressal system in a formal manner since 2004.
- It was reconstituted on 28.09.2011 in a revised manner in view of promoting the students to lodge their complaints in a more systematic way since it was found that most of the complaints previously lodged were without dates and anonymous.
- The GRC wasreframed in the academic session 2018-2019 and it confirmed to operate till 2022-23 session. The compogsition of the GRC during this time period was as following

- Opening of e-mail account with id name grievancemucwcburdwan@gmail.com on 10.06.2019 in an attempt to remove fear of victimization through open letter and ensure transparency as well as retention of confidentiality of the complaints.
- The G.R.C. and its rules were reframed after communication with U.G.C. [vide no. D.O. No. F.1-1/2013 (PG) dated 05.02.2019 and D.O. No. F.1-1/2018 (PG) dated 29.03.2019] on 09.07.2019.
- The G.R.C. was again reframed in the academic session 2023-2024.

Record:
The complaint has to be recorded in the Complaint Register to be kept in the custody of the Convener, G.R.C.
Modus operandi:
If the Convener of G.R.C. be satisfied that the complaint lodged has prima-facie merit and can not be redressed by him/her a meeting will be convened ordinarily within two weeks. The members of the G.R.C. will meet and probe into and verify the truths of the allegation.
Redressed:
The cell will show conciliatory gesture in addressing grievances and endeavour to settle dispute/redress grievances amicably.
Reference:
If the G.R.C. fails to redress grievances through persuasion and/or alerting, the matter will be referred to the Governing Body for necessary action.
Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) Rules
- The grievance redressal cell is constituted to settle the grievance of students, staffs and parents and will include any matter relating to student and staff.
- All complainants should file their grievances in writing through letter or through email at the email id specified (grievancemucwcburdwan@gmail.com) for the purpose in case of letters, they may be dropped in the G.R.C. box marked as “Complaint Box” in front of Principals office.
- The complaint the committee will meet at least once in a month or as and when required to resolve the grievances/ lodged complaints.
- All complaints should be resolved within a time frame by looking into its seriousness and the resolution will be communicated to the complainant within a short while.
- To the GRC all complaints are of equal importance. However, if any baseless complaint is lodged or any grievance expressed to misdirect the GRC, the matter will be referred to the College Authority to take necessary action.
- The committee will not reconsider any decision taken against any grievance. However, if the complainant is not satisfied with the decision of the GRC, he/she will have chance to move to the higher authority with her or his complaint.
- Grievance which fall outside the purview of GRC, will be referred to the appropriate authority and the same will be communicated to the complaint.
