Maharajadhiraj Udaychand Mahila Mahavidyalay was established as Women’s College in the year 1955. In the beginning morning classes were held for two years. Girls from various towns and villages were pleased to get the opportunity of reading in this college. Gradually day classes were started in the college. In 1962, first classes of Bengali Honours were started. The first professor of Bengali department of our college Prof. Smritikana Mukhopadhyay joined the college in the year 1962 and served the college till retirement. Her astounding way of teaching enthralled the students.
Prof. Bijoya Chakarborty was an extremely eminent professor of our department, who used to perform all works of our department with extreme dexterity. She was a very efficient professor whose stupendous teaching skill mesmerized the students. As a convenor of NCC, she has taken the students to various places.

The students of our college participate in various cultural programs. Those who have passed out from our college are now successfully established in various fields. Some are engaged in banking service, others are in govt. schools and colleges. Despite being students of literature they are well established in various fields. Our hearts swell with pride and satisfaction when we see our students achieving excellence in their own way. This healthy and robust relationship between the teachers and students blooms and flourishes with every passing year and it helps the students to achieve the zenith of success. The students are the back bone of our society and they elevate and uplift the society. Our proper guidance will transform them into pillars of strength and success that will illuminate the society with their light of knowledge.
LEARNING OUTCOME REPORT
Great educationists like Rabindranath and others have emphasized the importance of mother language as the best medium of education, because it nourishes the learners to achieve all round development in their educational career. In our state the study of the Bengali language and literature in all levels of education including higher education in colleges is very important because Bengali is the best medium of communication, cultivation and exchange of cultures and development of aesthetic sense. So the learners should study Bengali literature to be acquainted with Bengali culture and tradition.
