The college has created ample sports facilities for its students mainly with the help of the Department of Physical Education. Apart from organizing the Annual Sports Meet the college on a regular basis sends outstanding performers to participate in different Inter-collegiate and District Sports competitions. The college also takes pride in providing Gymnasium facilities to the students. With the financial assistance of the State Government, the Multi-gym has recently been upgraded. The college authority has recently set up Badminton Court and is planning to set up Volleyball Court in the near future. The students of the Physical Education department have also scope to orient themselves to Yoga and Gymnastics. The following incentives are given to outstanding sports persons:
Passage fare for participation in Inter -College and Inter-University Meets
Gift of Blazers
As the college is located in a district town which has become almost world famous for its medical-clinic cum drug-house density, it has not opted for any special arrangement on the campus in this regard. However, First-aid, the basic medical treatment, is available for students and staff alike. Health Camps for primary health check-up—testing of blood sugar, measuring weight, blood grouping—are periodically organized in the college. Special camps for determination of Thalassaemia Carriers are also organized in the college with the technical assistance of Red Cross or other voluntary organizations.
Railway Travel Concession
The college makes arrangement for Railway travel concession to the willing students who apply for the same. Application for concession normally is not entertained during the Summer Recess and the Puja Vacation.
There is a long L- shaped cycle stand in the college for parking two-wheelers of the students. Another spacious parking zone has recently been constructed for parking two-wheelers of the staff members. The care-taker of the cycle stand collects parking charges and pays the college a fixed amount per token
Magazine & Wall Magazine
ESONA, the college magazine, is regularly published to nurture the artistic/ literary and communicative potentials of the students. Originality and scholarship are the criteria for selection in the matter of publication.
The College also periodically publishes Wall Magazines separately for Science, Social Science, and Literature students. The entire work of publication is done by the students themselves. The College Alumni Association has shown interest in ensuring the regularity of its publication.
Website and Academic Calendar
Every Year the college publishes Academic Calendar for its students in booklet form. It not only contains list of Holidays, Working Days but gives in detail schedule of Tests Examinations and other academic programmes for the benefit of students. The Academic Calendar also highlights the college vision and the college song to make these popular among the learners.
The college website <www.mucwcbrdwan.org> was launched within a few years of first accreditation by NAAC in 2004. Although it contained much useful information, it was not very functional. The website has been recently redesigned and updated. Now almost every important communication—from date of examination or result of test examination to Purchase Tender—is hosted on the website. There is a window on the front page of the website which is hyperlinked to the online admission website.
